Overview
If you’re an Apple fan, you’re probably aware of the announcement- and impending release- of three new phones from the company. These are the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and the iPhone XR. They replace the original iPhone X, whose discontinuation was announced at the same time (just ten months after it went on sale).
The iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max are scheduled for UK release on the 21st of September 2018, with the iPhone XR coming out the following month on the 26th of October.
Introduction
Apple held their September 2017 special event for the first time at the Steve Jobs Theater and there were some exciting announcements. These included the iPhone X, an iPhone 8 and 8 Plus, a series 3 Apple Watch, a new Apple TV (supporting 4K video) and, of course, iOS 11.
From a repair perspective- the focus of our business and what we’ll be concentrating on with this article- the models of most concern to us are the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus and the iPhone X, which we’ll take a look at here.
The USB-C introduced this year, is the new connector and cable which can power the MacBook and can accept a wide variety of devices with adapters. As the trend has moved towards much lighter and thinner platform designs, it is not surprising that the USB-C is not much larger than the previous micro-USB. The great thing about the USB-C connecter is that it is symmetrical and reversible unlike the older versions. Now you don’t have to worry about which side of the USB-C needs to be plugged in!
