Let Us Repair or Replace Your Laptop Keyboard
Because they’re frequently specific to a particular series (or even model) of laptop, keyboards aren’t always generally available, and in many cases are discontinued by the time people need a replacement.
The good news is that here at Disc Depot we’re experienced in sourcing the replacement keyboards we need to repair a wide range of laptops. We keep many models in stock in our Dundee store for immediate fitting, and countless others can be ordered on demand so your laptop can be fixed as soon as possible.
More importantly, we know how to obtain these parts at a reasonable price, which lets us offer our keyboard repair and replacement services at a much more affordable rate for you!
Foreign Keyboards (Non-UK Layout)
If your laptop’s keyboard has a foreign (non-UK) layout, we can still usually obtain and fit that specific version for you. This includes many European keyboard layouts (e.g. AZERTY, QWERTZ and others), Chinese-character layouts, Cyrillic, Arabic and others. If in doubt, please ask our staff- you can visit our shop in person, telephone or email. (Our contact details are at the bottom of this page.)
Spilled Drinks on your Laptop Keyboard
If you’ve spilled a drink or beverage- or something similar- on your laptop, our recommendation is always to turn off the computer and disconnect any power sources as soon as possible.
Damage due to short circuits is more likely to happen if the computer is still powered-up when liquid gets into the circuitry.
However, do not place yourself at risk of electrocution. If the charger is plugged into the mains- and the water or liquid is nowhere near the mains socket itself- we would advise you to turn that off first. Then remove the charger from the laptop socket.
Next, remove the battery from the laptop if possible and if you aren’t placing yourself at risk by doing so. (There may be latches, or it may be screwed in.)
Finally, get the computer to us for repair as soon as possible. Drinks and other liquids contain various substances that may be corrosive to your laptop’s electrical components once dry, and the sooner we are able to deal with this, the better the chance of a successful repair
