Non-Removable Battery? We Can Replace It!

Nowadays many smartphones and tablet computers are sealed units with non-removable batteries. This has certain advantages- devices can be slimmer and tidier if they don’t have to allow for battery removal.

Of course, it also has several major disadvantages, one being that you can’t easily replace a malfunctioning or worn out battery yourself. Companies such as Apple and Samsung charge a premium for this service if it’s available at all.

The good news is that Disc Depot brings affordable battery replacement to iPhone, iPad, Samsung Galaxy and other phone and tablet owners in Angus, Dundee, North Fife and beyond from their outlet in Dundee’s city centre.

Why Choose Disc Depot Dundee for your Li-Ion Battery Replacement?

Quite simply, we have years more experience than most of our competitors. Formed in 2001, we opened our shop and repair centre in Dundee’s Union Street shortly after. We started working on smartphones soon after the 2007 launch of the original iPhone.

Compare that to some random company that popped up six months ago with a window full of overpriced phone cases or worse, some guy on Facebook doing repairs from his bedroom!

Even just getting into many modern devices to replace the battery can be tricky due to numerous easily-damaged connections and components. Is it really worth risking your tablet or phone with less experienced battery replacement services? Bear in mind that we can keep our prices generally competitive with such rivals because we’re efficiently set up and know what we’re doing!

Disc Depot brings affordable battery replacement to iPhone, iPad, Samsung Galaxy and other phone and tablet users in eastern and central Scotland.

Phone or Tablet Not Charging or Lasting as Well As It Used To?

If it your tablet or smartphone isn’t charging as well as it used to, this may be a sign that the battery is worn out and needs replacement.

While there can be other reasons it won’t charge, we’ll check those first. (Charging problems are also frequently caused by a damaged Micro-USB, Lightning or Apple dock connector, and we can repair that for you as well. We’ll always let you know in advance of any charges for repairs or diagnostic investigations.)

Simply pop in to our Union Street shop- we’re just down from the Overgate, and up from the new railway station and V&A museum!

Bulging and Swollen Batteries

If your phone or tablet’s case starts to bulge or distort, the most likely cause is a swollen battery inside. This is the result of damage to the lithium-ion (Li-ion) cells used in most modern smartphones and tablets, leading to a buildup of flammable gas.

Such damage can have several causes:-

  • Overcharging – Li-ion cells respond badly to overcharging.
  • Heat – Heat caused by overcharging or from other sources can also cause battery swelling.
  • Faulty manufacture – This is a problem with the original design or manufacturing process. (You may wish to check first whether this is covered by the manufacturer’s guarantee).

Regardless of why it happens, bloated batteries are dangerous and can catch fire or explode. You should not continue using a device with signs of swelling until the battery has been safely replaced.

For reasons of safety, please don’t throw them in the regular household waste. If you’re having your Lithium battery replaced by us, we can safely dispose of the old one at the same time.

Because swollen batteries can explode or catch fire, they should be replaced before you use the device again.
