Battery Burns Up Apple MacBook- Disaster!

We’re good, but even we have our limits! Sometimes things are fixable, sometimes it has to be admitted that they… aren’t. Here’s an example of the latter.

A customer- who hadn’t seen the insides!- brought us this Apple MacBook to see if we could fix it.

Unfortunately, after we’d opened it, it was pretty obvious (as you can see from the photos) that something had gone disastrously wrong with this MacBook’s battery. It hadn’t just failed, it had clearly gone on to melt and burn the insides of the laptop itself.

While- fortunately!- it appears that the damage and fire hazard didn’t spread beyond the laptop in this case, the internal damage was extensive, having destroyed adjacent components, parts of the board and even the screen itself.

If a “repair” was possible here, it would most likely require replacing much- if not most- of the laptop internals, and (given the cost of the components and work involved) at that point you’re better off getting another laptop.
