Apple iPhone SE 2020 – Repairs Now Available

If you own the recently-released Apple iPhone SE 2020 (AKA the second-generation iPhone SE and the iPhone SE 2), you’ll be pleased to hear we can already supply a wide range of repairs for it.

Typically when a new iPhone comes out, there’s a delay in the availability of replacement components. This can be a limiting factor on the repairs available from third-party businesses such as ourselves until they start arriving in greater numbers.

However, because the new iPhone SE is largely based on existing technology, it uses (and is compatible with) many of the same parts as the iPhone 8, along with some from the iPhone 11. That means many of the parts needed for repairs were already on the market in quantity and available for immediate use by the time it was out. Good news for you if your iPhone SE 2020 needed repaired!

  • Screen and Display Assembly – This is the same as the one on the iPhone 8. Since screen replacements are the single most common repair for almost any phone, this is a major plus point. The proximity sensor and microphone (part of the same assembly) are also compatible.
  • Main Camera – This is the same as the one on the iPhone 8
  • SIM Tray – Ditto
  • Taptic Engine – Ditto
  • Battery – Ah… not quite. The battery itself appears to be physically the same as the iPhone 8 one, but its connector resembles the iPhone 11’s. However, since it’s still based on existing technology, it hasn’t taken long for them to become available.

This isn’t to say that everything about iPhone SE repair is smooth sailing, but it’s definitely been a simpler case for us to get to grips with than many other phones.

If you would like your iPhone SE fixed, you can contact us online, telephone us, or visit our store in Union Street, Dundee City Centre, just down from the Overgate. We look forward to hearing from you!

iPhone 8 (left) and second-generation iPhone SE (right) screen. One difference- the iPhone 8 screen features a 3D Touch IC (top left) and the SE (which doesn’t support that anyway) lacks it. However, the 8 screen works fine in an SE regardless.
