Water Damage Ruins Laptop- Don’t Let Yours Be Next
Here’s why water damage can be very bad news and why you should bring your laptop to us for repair as soon as possible rather than leaving it to dry out and hoping for the best.
Water can damage your laptop (or any other electronic device) in two ways. Firstly, almost immediate damage when the water gets inside and causes short circuits and similar problems.
Problem is that damage can also occur over time due to corrosion from the liquid that’s left inside the laptop. This contains impurities whose corrosive properties can- if anything- get worse when the water gradually dries out and leaves them behind.
And once that corrosion gets beyond a certain stage, especially when several different areas of the board are affected, the damage caused can be unrepairable, as happened with the laptop board below.
Our technicians are very good, and often able to fix board-level corrosioin issues that many others wouldn’t touch. However, even they have their limits and can’t work miracles!
Even if it were theoretically possible to fix something like this, it’s not going to be economically worthwhile to do so– particularly when the chance of success is so low.
If you’re wondering whether you should get your laptop looked it, do yourself a favour and bring it to us as soon as possible!
