iPhone 6 Botched Repair Recovery
A significant proportion of the more “interesting”(!) repairs we get in are those handed to us by other stores. This is because most of them are jobs that they can’t manage by themselves- i.e. the more difficult ones! On top of which is the fact that they- or other people- have often already messed things up further in a failed attempt to repair it.
This is a typical example. We took a look at this iPhone 6 for another local business. They hadn’t attempted to repair it themselves, but someone else had had a go, and really hadn’t done a good job at all.
They’d tried to replace the coil, the diode and the filter. However, when we removed the filter it was split in two and looked like it had been salvaged from a scrap board. There was also a pad missing on the board, so we had to use a test point and run a jumper cable to get the backlight circuit working again.
As always, the customer was ultimately lucky that we were able to fix the damage caused by someone else’s failed repair on top of the original problem. This isn’t always the case, which is why you should bring your phone to us first. Don’t let someone who doesn’t know what they’re doing mess up your faulty- but otherwise fixable- phone so badly that it’s beyond repair by anyone.
